Building A Dream A Capital Campaign to Build a New Care Center
Construction on Hospice House began in early June! Our journey started in 2002 when the state approved our Certificate of Need to build a hospice care center that would meet the needs of patients and their families in Bladen, Brunswick and Columbus counties closer to home. What was once a dream has made a giant leap closer to reality.
Our success with this project is because of you.
Thanks to the leadership of the Capital Campaign Committee, there has been an outpouring of community support from individuals, businesses, and the medical community for this facility. Because of these generous donations, gifts, and pledges, we are approaching our goal of raising more than $2 million to build this facility. The list of capital campaign donors is on pages 10 and 11.
We continue to raise funds and look forward to finishing the campaign as the building is erected. Our construction project manager estimates it will take about a year to complete the facility, and we hope to be serving patients by summer 2008.
As you know, most of our patients are served in their homes, but when intensive hospice care is needed, Hospice House, just like the Hospice Care Center in Wilmington, will be there as a "home away from home." Patients receive care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day. Hospice House is modeled after the Wilmington care center, with six patient suites, living areas, and courtyard gardens. Both facilities are designed to meet the needs of patients in a comfortable, serene environment.
From Hospice House, our staff will offer community programs - grief support, medical student training, and education.
You can make it possible for us to offer this special place of comfort, care and peace for yourself, for loved ones and for others. Make your gift today to the Building A Dream capital campaign by using the donation envelope enclosed in this newsletter. You can also contribute online by clicking on Online Donations and Payments at the top of this page.
Thank you so much for looking into your heart and choosing to support the wonderful gift of hospice care.
Land to Grow On
The J.C. Lennon family has generously donated more than five acres of land on Warrior Road in Whiteville to Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter's capital campaign for the home of our new inpatient facility. The five acres allows plenty of land to buffer the patients from any noise or disturbance. The property is ideally situated, less than one mile from Columbus Regional Healthcare System, allowing for easy transport of patients and procurement of services from the hospital, including linens, nutrition, and housekeeping. The location is easily accessible to patients and families from Columbus, Bladen, Brunswick, Pender and Robeson counties. Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter extends its appreciation to the J.C. Lennon family for its generosity.
