Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter Governance

Board of Directors
In 1980, community volunteers interested in the hospice concept of care founded Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Inc. in Wilmington. Dr. Daniel Gottovi, a local physician, led the group, which became the first Board of Directors of the organization.

The twenty-member Board of Directors has the power for policy making. The Board is accountable for the direction, mission, budget and programs of Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

In September 2004, the Board of Directors approved a five-year strategic plan for the organization. Its focus is on serving more people, improving access to care, and increasing awareness. To attain these goals, Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter is expanding programs, enhancing outreach, and offering more end-of-life education.
