What programs does Bereavement Services offer?
Bereavement Services provides grief counseling and education for patients, their families and the community through individual and group sessions. Sunrise Kids offers grief support and education  to children who have experienced a death.

 

What kind of grief support is available?
Bereavement support is available to family members and caregivers as well as patients. Through individual sessions and group meetings facilitated by bereavement counselors, grief counseling and education are offered free of charge up to one year following a patient's death. 

 

When are group support programs offered?
Throughout the year, support groups are offered to our community in addition to families of our hospice patients. Living With Grief, Living With Grief For Men Only, Adults Who Have Had a Parent Die, Adults Who Have Had a Child Die, and Loss and the Holidays are free programs for adults who are grieving. Click on

What children’s grief support is offered?
The Sunrise Kids offers in-school and after-school grief groups for children and adolescents who have experienced the death of a person who has been important in their lives. Individual grief support for children, teens, and adults is also available. Sunshine Camp is our summer grief camp for kids. Click on
Sunshine for our 2007 Sunshine Camp sessions. Community educational programs about children's grief can be scheduled upon request.

 

Is grief counseling available?
Free grief counseling is provided to hospice family members up to one year after a patient's death. Free, short-term counseling is available to individuals in the community who have experienced a death, even if it is not a hospice-related death. Presentations on grief are available to various community organizations and businesses.
